Swinging Trashcan Lids

What idiot designed those trashcans with the swinging lids at fast-food places? Do you slam your tray into it and have of your trash in the bin, half on yourself and/or the floor? Or should you risk contracting 18 S.T.I.'s by holding it open with your hand? Maybe that's just ANOTHER reason to stop eating fast-food.

On a related note, I hate when people hide the garbage can behind the cabinet under the kitchen sink. And then I have to play the "shell game" to figure out which cabinet. Because you know, it's always the opposite one you pick.
