First Born = Favorite
In honor of winter break and having to spend too much time with my family, I dedicate this entry to my annoying sisters.
I grew up in a family of all girls. I came first, followed by Allie, followed by Britt. Naturally, there has always been constant bickering over who the favorite is. However, I'm about to finally put that debate to rest. You can always determine the favorite child based upon their baby photo albums.
Allie's and my albums match. There are three possible explainations for this. Choose which ever you find more appealing.
1.)There was a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" sale at Big Lots, and my mom just couldn't resist.
2.)They both were originally intended for me. Then Allie came along and ruined everything.
3.)One for me; one for Allie. Then Britt came along and really put my mom between a rock and a hard place because they had apparently discontinued that design/style.
My album is literally overflowing with Poloroids. In fact, if you take all of them out of the protective pockets, stack them, and thumb flip through them, they form a feature-film length documentary of my early years. Every photo's label included the date, how old i was down to the hour, and a witty caption typically including alliteration.
Allie's album is quite impressive despite having several blank pages in the back. It's almost more like a continuation of my album because I'm present in over half of "her" photos. At least they're still in chronological order...for the most part. Their labels have the approximate date (e.g. 8/87) on the backs, but even then we can't be 100% sure because the handwriting it pretty illegible.
Britt's "album" consists of the newborn picture the hospital always takes and the wristband that says "Yorks, Baby Girl." There are a few pictures of the family when we visited Mom and Britt in the hospital, but they're just stuck in there and not actually in the protective pockets. To be quite honest, Allie and I were more interested in the vending machine down the hall than our new baby sister. And it's been that way ever since, except when we want something from her. I will conceed, Britt has developed into quite a "ham" because the majority of her life was captured on our video camera.
So there you have it. The controversy has been settled once and for all. Stephanie is the favorite Yorks daughter. Might I also add, I'm the first grandchild on my mother's side of the family. Therefore, I'm even more revered than my other sisters.
