Thin is In

Yes, we all know it is. But the real question is why? Is it because of the media? They seem to be the new scapegoats for any and every problem this country faces. Girls, in attempt to live up to the media's unrealistic self-image body standards, were increasingly starving themselves. Anorexia was as common as the common cold. In reaction, magazines began using plumper models. Now guess what? The new studies show that roughly 30 percent of American children are obsese! So much for finding a happy medium. And I'm sure the media will be blamed for this as well. But who decided fat was bad? I mean, in some countries being heavy is a sign of wealth. Afterall, only the poor are thin because they can't afford to feed themselves. If you're thin that means you work hard all day doing physical labor, burning off what you consume. Wealthy individuals pay others to do their work and instead sit around and eat.

Ok, that's nice, but it still doesn't answer why is this in. Maybe it's because discipline is commonly associated with thinness. Afterall, thin people have self-control; they probably adhere to strict diets and workout routines. They are responsible and bring a healthy packed lunch instead of rushing to McDonald's on their lunch break.

If that's not the case, then there's only one explaination: it's a Richard Simmon's conspiracy.
